16-year-old boy riding bike shot on Boston street; injuries not life threatening

BOSTON — Boston police say a 16-year-old boy shot in the chest as he rode his bicycle is expected to survive.

The victim was shot at about 6 p.m. Tuesday in front of a church in the city's Mattapan neighborhood.

The boy was taken to Boston Medical Center for treatment.

Witnesses say the boy was chased down the street by a gunman and police say they recovered four shell casings at the scene.

There was no word on any arrests or what led to the shooting.
