LAFAYETTE, Louisiana — Authorities say a 28-year-old Charenton woman who last week told police that two armed men wearing masks had attacked and robbed her allegedly fabricated the incident.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Tracy Landry tells The Advocate (http://bit.ly/1xykEoZ ) Megan T. Dugas will appear before a judge Oct. 13 on a criminal mischief summons for falsely reporting a home invasion on Friday.

Dugas was not booked into the parish jail.

Landry says detective assigned to Dugas' case discovered she had recently spent the same amount of cash she claimed had been stolen in the home invasion.

Landry would not say where or why Dugas spent the money.
