NEW YORK — Trainer Jimmy Jerkens and jockey Angel Arroyo struck again, winning the $69,000 Aqueduct feature for a second straight day as Effinex splashed through the mud for a 3 1/2-length victory on Friday.

They combined to win Thursday's feature with John's Island at 7-1. Effinex had greater support, paying $7.30, $3.90 and $2.80 as the 5/2 second choice.

A 4-year-old colt making his season debut, Effinex swung wide on the final turn to pick off rivals. Effinex, one the leading New York breds with a win in the Empire Classic last fall, easily rolled past the pacesetting Integrity in the lane for his fourth victory in 13 starts.

Integrity held on for second, returning $5.80 and $3.40. Coach Inge, the 2-1 favorite, paid $2.60 to show.
