Strong storm causes damage to businesses near Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield


CHESTERFIELD, Missouri — Several buildings at and near Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield are damaged after a strong storm swept through the area.

The storm Thursday night damaged at least 15 buildings in Chesterfield. No injuries were reported.

Power lines were knocked down and a gas leak was reported at one business. It was quickly repaired.

The National Weather Service reported winds of up to 70 mph in nearby St. Charles County. Winds knocked down a tree, which fell onto a house, in Troy. The lone person home was not hurt.

Forecasters are calling for mostly sunny conditions through much of the state until Sunday, when there is another chance of rain.
