VIENNA — Austria coach Marcel Koller has dropped former captain Andreas Ivanschitz from the national team for next month's European Championship qualifier against Sweden.

The 30-year-old Levante midfielder, who has played 69 matches for Austria, is missing from the 23-man squad announced Tuesday by Koller.

The coach is also overlooking Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann and Salzburg defender Franz Schiemer while giving 1860 Munich striker Rubin Okotie his first call-up in five years.

Midfielders David Alaba, Veli Kavlak and Martin Harnik are returning from injury.

Austria plays Sweden in Vienna on Sept. 8 in Group G, which also includes Russia, Montenegro, Moldova and Liechtenstein.
