South Carolina man faces charges for fire that totaled Big D's Bar-B-Que in Myrtle Beach

CONWAY, South Carolina — A 47-year-old Andrews man faces charges for a fire that destroyed a popular barbecue restaurant in Myrtle Beach.

Multiple media outlets report that Christopher Bryant is charged with third degree arson and burglary in last week's fire at Big D's Bar-B-Que.

Police reports say firefighters responded about 2:30 a.m. Nov. 18 after an Horry County police officer spotted flames. More than 40 firefighters from various agencies assisted.

No one was inside at the time.

Investigators later determined the fire was intentionally set.

The fire was a total loss of the restaurant that opened in 1982.

Bryant was being held at the Horry County jail. It was not known if he has a lawyer.
