RALEIGH, North Carolina — Residents in adult group homes and their advocates say North Carolina legislators need to find a solution to ensure residents can keep receiving Medicaid coverage and ultimately remain in their homes.
More than 100 people attending a rally Wednesday outside the Legislative Building in Raleigh urged the General Assembly to find a long-term solution to help several thousand group home residents retain Medicaid-covered personal care services.
New streamlined eligibility standards mean the facilities may not have the money to stay open. The General Assembly located money to supplement Medicaid payments for residents who don't qualify through the end of June.
Robert Bullock lives at a group home in Cary. He told the crowd he's going to keep calling and visiting legislators until they do what's right.
