SANTA FE, New Mexico — New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez has traveled to Florida to meet with other governors from around the nation.

The governor's office said Martinez arrived in Boca Raton on Monday to attend the winter session of the Republican Governors Association. She is scheduled to return to New Mexico on Friday.

The nation's only female Hispanic governor, Martinez cruised to re-election earlier this month. She defeated Democrat Gary King by the largest percentage seen by a New Mexico GOP governor during the past half century.

The Republican governors' group says it began advertising in New Mexico the day after the primary. It spent $750,000 on English and Spanish-language ads early on.

In all, the group says the number of Republican governors increased from 29 to 31 this election cycle.
