Lowell man struck while walking in street dies at the hospital over the weekend

LOWELL, Massachusetts — Authorities say the 58-year-old Lowell man struck by a car while walking on a city street last week died of his injuries over the weekend.

The Middlesex district attorney's office tells The Sun ( ) that William Connolly died at a Boston hospital on Saturday after being struck last Thursday afternoon.

Police say Connolly was struck by a car driven by a 23-year-old Lowell woman. Her name has not been made public and she has not been charged.

A relative says Connolly was walking in the street because there was snow on the sidewalk.

Authorities are investigating whether snow-covered sidewalks were a factor.
