Police: Child, 3, shot in finger during attempted robbery in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — Police say a 3-year-old was shot in the finger during a robbery at a home in Jacksonville.

The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1Fq378i ) reports the child's mother and her fiance were in the home Tuesday afternoon when the child headed toward the kitchen. The fiance followed and saw someone in a ski mask coming in through the back door.

According to police, the intruder pulled out a gun during a confrontation with the man. It discharged, striking the child in the finger.

The intruder fled. Police were called around 1:25 p.m.

An investigation continues.
