Hyder has career-high 23 points and 10 boards as Southern U rallies to beat Prairie View 77-73

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — Christopher Hyder scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, both career-highs, to lead Southern University to a 77-73 victory over Prairie View on Thursday night.

Southern (16-15, 13-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference) has won two-straight and five of its last six games, and remains tied with Alabama State (17-9, 13-4) for second place in the conference. The Jaguars travel to SWAC leader Texas Southern in the regular season finale on Saturday night.

Prairie View led 44-31 at the half, and stretched it to 15 points in the second before the Jaguars used a 40-21 run in the final 14:00 to pull out the win.

Trelun Banks had 17 points, Tre Lynch 11 and Adrian Rodgers chipped in 10 for Southern.

Tre Hagood scored 32 points on 13-of-25 shooting, and Montrael Scott had 13 to lead Prairie View (13-17, 11-6).
