De Pere man charged with 11th OWI after rear-ending SUV with motorcycle

DE PERE, Wis. — A 55-year-old De Pere man has been charged with his 11th drunken-driving offense.

Charges say the man was driving a motorcycle that rear-ended a sport utility vehicle Wednesday afternoon. He fell off his motorcycle while talking to a police officer, repeated himself and slurred his words.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette (http://gbpg.net/KgotLq) reports the man said he drank two beers over lunch about an hour before the accident.

The man refused to complete field sobriety tests or a preliminary breath test but later submitted to a blood test at a hospital. He was charged Thursday with felony operating while intoxicated.

The man has 10 prior OWI convictions, with the first in 1989 and the last in 2006. He had a valid driver's license when he was arrested Wednesday.
