Sheriff: Boy, 9, accidentally shoots grandfather while on hunting trip north of Tampa

ZEPHYRHILLS, Florida — Pasco County Sheriff's officials say a 9-year-old boy accidentally shot his grandfather while hunting near Zephyrhills.

The boy was apparently hunting with 54-year-old Marple Miller Tuesday evening.

According to sheriff's officials, Miller was shot in the abdomen with a .22-caliber rifle. The injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.

Zephyrhills is north of Tampa.

No further details were immediately available.
