Mississippi truck driver sentenced in death of woman pushed from truck on Missouri interstate

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — A Mississippi truck driver pleaded guilty in the death of a woman who was pushed from his truck along a Missouri interstate.

Kent Harris of Greenville, Miss., pleaded guilty Thursday to leaving the scene of an accident in 46-year-old Kecia King's death. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Harris had been charged with involuntary manslaughter after King's death in January.

King was found seriously injured along Interstate 29 near St. Joseph and died later at a hospital.

Prosecutors alleged King, of St. Joseph, was pushed from Harris' truck and that Harris knew she was injured when he drove away.

KQTV reports (http://bit.ly/K7RepN ) King's family has filed a wrongful death suit against Harris, the trucking company and the bar where the two met earlier in the night.
