Metro Atlanta man sentenced on federal weapons charges

ATLANTA — Federal prosecutors say a metro Atlanta man has been sentenced on weapons charges.

Authorities said Tuesday that 27-year-old Kevin Lahey of Lilburn was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison. Lahey was charged with possessing seven firearms while illegally using controlled substances.

Authorities say Lahey stole two silencers from a gun dealer in Lawrenceville and was arrested after stealing two laser lights, a rifle stand and a holster from a Wal-Mart in Snellville three days later. During a struggle with officers, prosecutors say Lahey dropped a loaded handgun.
