Former school security assistant pleads guilty to having sex with student in Va. Beach case

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia — A former school security assistant has pleaded guilty to charges in Virginia Beach that she had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.

Media outlets report a circuit judge decided Wednesday to wait a year before sentencing 24-year-old Patience Justine Perez on one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor. The charges involved meeting the victim at his Virginia Beach home.

Perez was sentenced last week in Norfolk Circuit Court to seven months in prison on two counts of indecent liberties with a minor. Those charges involved incidents with the boy at her Norfolk home.

Perez was fired in March 2013 from Renaissance Academy in Virginia Beach.
