Man's body found in Union County lake, thought to be that of missing fisherman

MONROE, North Carolina — Rescue crews have found a man's body in a Union County lake.

Multiple media outlets reported that officials think the body is that of a fisherman who had been missing nearly a week.

The body was found in the lake near Waxhaw around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Thirty-year-old Josh Chapman had been missing since he and his wife went fishing Jan. 9.

Ryan Chapman says she and her husband both fell into the water when their canoe capsized. Ryan Chapman made it to shore and called 911.

Officials said the water was very cold and about 10 feet deep.
