Fleeing motorist shot to death in Perris by Riverside County sheriff's deputies


PERRIS, California — A fleeing driver has been shot and killed by Riverside County sheriff's deputies in the city of Perris.

The Sheriff's Department says the shooting occurred at around 2:30 p.m. after deputies were called to assist Corona police who had been chasing a car.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise ( ) says police were chasing a minivan and KCAL-TV showed the vehicle racing across a golf course in Corona.

The chase ended when the minivan jumped a curb and stopped on the sidewalk and lawn of a home in Perris.

The driver died at the scene but other details haven't been released.
