Detroit unveiling directory to boost city's small businesses, including shops and restaurants

DETROIT — A neighborhood business directory is being unveiled for Detroit.

The office of Mayor Mike Duggan says the Detroit Neighborhood Business Directory that is making its debut Tuesday is part of a continued effort to boost local shops and restaurants.

The city says the publication is a celebration of Detroit small businesses and the entrepreneurs who run them. The first edition includes more than 170 businesses and profiles on about 70.

The Tuesday event being held in conjunction with Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce comes ahead of "Small Business Saturday," an effort to encourage shopping at local stores.

The guide will be made available for free at locations throughout the city and will be posted online.
