CHEYENNE, Wyoming — District Judge Peter G. Arnold will retire effective next April first.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1idmtoU ) that Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Kite announced Arnold's retirement on Monday.
Former Gov. Dave Freudenthal appointed Arnold the district court seat in early 2005. Voters last year retained Arnold for a term that runs until 2018.
Arnold's retirement means that the state's judicial nominating commission will accept applications until late December and then forward three names to Gov. Matt Mead for him to choose from.
The governor has appointed a dozen new judges in the past year, considerably more than his predecessors.
