HOUSTON — A repeat bank robber from South Texas has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for an armed holdup in Corpus Christi.

A federal judge sentenced 43-year-old Joseph C. M. Krist of San Antonio.

Jurors in Corpus Christi last December convicted Krist of bank robbery and using a firearm during commission of a violent crime. The case involve the January 2013 holdup of an IBC Bank. Employees were threatened by a man with a handgun.

Krist was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years for bank robbery and 10 years on the firearms conviction. The sentences must be served consecutively.

Prosecutors say Krist has prior bank robbery convictions in state and federal court. Further details weren't immediately available. At the time of the IBC Bank holdup he was sought for parole violation.
