Pridemore, ex-head of Governor's Office of Workforce Development, launches congressional bid

MARIETTA, Georgia — The former executive director of the Governor's Office of Workforce Development says she's running for Congress in Georgia's 11th District.

Tricia Pridemore, who was appointed to the post by Gov. Nathan Deal, announced her bid late Monday. On the Republican side, she joins former U.S. Rep Bob Barr, state Rep. Ed Lindsey and state Sen. Barry Loudermilk in the race.

U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey, who represents the 11th district, has announced he'll be leaving to run for U.S. Senate. The upcoming retirement of Sen. Saxby Chambliss has created three openings in Georgia's congressional delegation.

Pridemore, who lost a bid two years ago to serve as state chair of the Georgia GOP, is touting her business experience as co-founder of a software company and her recent work to improve Georgia's workforce.
