Deadly wreck closes all southbound lanes of I-85 just northeast of Atlanta

CHAMBLEE, Georgia — Authorities blocked all of the southbound lanes of Interstate 85 at the start of the morning rush hour in metro Atlanta as they investigated what appeared to be a deadly traffic crash.

The Georgia Department of Transportation reports that at least one person was killed in the incident around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

DeKalb County police tell CBS 46 in Atlanta that three pedestrians were struck on the freeway.

Commuters heading into Atlanta could see at least one person lying motionless in a right lane of the freeway, just northeast of the city near the exit to Chamblee-Tucker Road.
