Judge: Ex-prostitute's children have valid claim to slain Calif. millionaire's estate

MONTE SERENO, California — A judge has ruled that the young daughters of a one-time prostitute have a valid claim to a slain Northern California millionaire's estate.

Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Thomas Cain ruled on Tuesday that there is clear evidence that the 9 and 7-year-old girls are Ravi Kumra's daughters. He awarded them each $1,800 a month.

Kumra was killed at his Monte Sereno mansion on Nov. 30 when authorities say gang members with ties to prostitutes Kumra knew broke in, bound and gagged him and made off with cash, jewelry and rare coins. Five people have been charged in the case.

The 66-year-old Kumra's wife, Harinder, was beaten in the attack.

According to the San Jose Mercury News (http://bit.ly/YkBps4), the Kumra family contended that the girls, if anything, were the result of a "sperm donor" arrangement.
