TOMAHAWK, Wisconsin — Lincoln County authorities say a woman has died in a snowmobiling accident on Lake Mohawksin in Tomahawk.

The sheriff's office says the accident was reported around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Emergency crews arrived to find the woman lying on the ice, not breathing.

She was pronounced dead at Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk.

The sheriff's office says the victim was riding in a line of three snowmobiles. She was riding on the back of the first sled in the line and was ejected when it hit a bump. She was then hit by the second snowmobile.

Authorities planned to release the victim's name Sunday night

The Lincoln County sheriff's office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are investigating.
