President Barack Obama will be the main guest during this year's parade, which will be held in New Delhi on Monday.

Obama was invited on Twitter by Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi.

The White House says Obama is the first U.S. president to attend Republic Day, which commemorates the adoption of India's constitution.
