Inmate in Tent City jail dies from what authorities believe are natural causes

PHOENIX — An inmate in Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Tent City jail has died from what authorities believe are natural causes.

Arpaio's office says 50-year-old Oscar Polanco was allowed to go to work outside the jail during the day on Wednesday and returned there later in the day.

The inmate went to sleep and was discovered to be dead the next morning when it was time for him to leave for work.

Polanco was in jail on a drunken driving case.

The sheriff's office says no foul play is suspected.
