PAMPLICO, South Carolina — Authorities say a child has died after he was hit by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle in Pamplico.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol tells local media outlets the boy was riding his bike from the private driveway of his home onto state Highway 897 when he was struck and killed Sunday night.

Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken has identified the boy as 6-year-old Jenson Eli Stone of Pamplico. Troopers say the child wasn't wearing a helmet. They say the driver will not be charged.

Troopers are still investigating.
