W.Va. teachers who received national certification in 2012 to be recognized at ceremony

CHARLESTON, West Virginia — West Virginia's newest nationally certified teachers are being honored at a ceremony.

The Department of Education says 61 teachers who received National Board Certification last year will be recognized Wednesday night at the Clay Center in Charleston.

National Board Certification means the teachers have successfully demonstrated advanced teaching knowledge, skills and practices.

Berkeley County had the most teachers receiving such certification last year with nine. Ohio and Wood counties had six apiece.

The state now has a total of 696 nationally certified teachers.
