GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado — A 49-year-old poker champion from England who pleaded guilty to killing his wife and dumping her body in western Colorado in 1997 has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The Post Independent reports (http://bit.ly/11JCV3y ) District Judge Daniel Petre sentenced Marcus Bebb-Jones on Wednesday for the death of 31-year-old Sabrina Bebb-Jones. Marcus Bebb-Jones signed a plea deal with prosecutors in February and confessed to killing his wife "in the heat of passion."
He reported his wife missing in 1997 when the two owned a hotel in Grand Junction. A rancher found her skull in a remote wooded area on Douglas Pass in Garfield County in 2004.
British police arrested Marcus Bebb-Jones in Worcestershire, England, in 2009. He was extradited after prosecutors said they would not seek the death penalty.
