DAVIS, North Carolina — Two people are dead and the estranged husband of one of the victims faces two murder charges after shootings in Carteret County.

Area media outlets report that 48-year-old Leonard Floyd Yeomans of Otway is charged in the shootings that occurred Tuesday night in the community of Davis.

Sheriff's deputies identified the victims as Dennis Neal Harvey and Valerie Piner Yeomans, the estranged wife of Leonard Yeomans. They were shot at their residence.

Authorities say that Yeomans turned himself in at a magistrate's office in Beaufort. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.
