MONTAFON, Austria — Germany won the first men's snowboard World Cup cross team event of the season on Sunday, while Italy edged the United States for victory in the women's competition.

Konstantin Schad and Paul Berg won the men's final ahead of Canada's Kevin Hill and Jake Holden. Luca Matteotti and Michele Godino were third.
Italy's Raffaella Brutto and Michela Moioli edged Lindsey Jacobellis and Callan Chythlook-Sifsof of the United States. Chloe Trespeuch and Nelly Moenne Loccoz of France was third.
The next World Cup snowboard cross event is scheduled for Dec. 20-21 in Lake Louise, Canada.
