NEW ORLEANS — Tulane defensive end Royce LaFrance has been suspended for the first half of the Tulsa game next week.

Coach Curtis Johnson announced the suspension Friday after practice. NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/1p1Zvye ) LaFrance, a 6-4, 265-pound junior, violated an unspecified team policy.

Last season, LaFrance made 27 tackles and is the team's leading returning sack man with 6.5 in 2013 for a loss of 53 yards. LaFrance also made 10 tackles for a loss of 61 yards last fall.

The Aug. 30 game at Tulsa marks both teams' first conference game as part of the American Athletic Conference.
