NORWICH, Connecticut — Police have arrested a suspect in the 2011 shooting death of a Norwich mother.

The New London County Cold Case Task Force and the Norwich Police Department on Wednesday charged Lashawn Cecil with murder and other offenses in the death of Jaclyn Wirth.

The 33-year-old Cecil had been in custody for his alleged involvement in a shooting in June 2012.

The 26-year-old Wirth was gunned down through the door of her Norwich apartment on Dec. 14, 2011. First responders found her 7-year-old son, who had witnessed his mother's death, holding the phone he used to call 911.

Wirth's other son, 2, was sleeping in the home.

It wasn't known if Cecil is represented by a lawyer. He was being held on $2 million bond.
