Shooting in Newark leaves 2 men dead, authorities say; no word on suspects or motive

NEWARK, New Jersey — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left two men dead on a Newark street.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office says officers responding to a report of a shooting found two men unresponsive on 18th Avenue Sunday night. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have identified the victims as 29-year-old Jean Coutac of Union and 18-year-old Luther Thompson Jr. of Newark.

No arrests have been made.
