Orioles call up Ishikawa and Britton, put Gonzalez on paternity list

DETROIT — The Baltimore Orioles have purchased the contract of infielder Travis Ishikawa from Triple-A Norfolk and put right-hander Miguel Gonzalez on the paternity list.

Baltimore also recalled left-hander Zach Britton from Nolfolk so he could start Tuesday night's game at Detroit. The Orioles designated infielder Yamaico Navarro for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Ishikawa.

Gonzalez and his wife Lucia had their first child, daughter Leah, on Monday night.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter says ailing right-hander Jason Hammel could start Friday or Saturday, and he could be available out of the bullpen before then.
