Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle while trying to cross busy street in Atlanta suburb

SMYRNA, Georgia — Police outside Atlanta are investigating how a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle while attempting to cross a street.

Smyrna police spokesman Louis Defense said the crash happened around 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of South Cobb Drive and Windy Hill Road in Smyrna.

The pedestrian was identified only as a man who was believed to be in his late 40s. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Defense told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://on-ajc.com/1LMF09B) that the driver of the vehicle was being interviewed at Smyrna's police station.
