LAKE ISABELLA, California — Firefighters are nearing full containment of a wildfire in the southern Sierra Nevada near Lake Isabella.

Authorities say the blaze is 90 percent contained Wednesday after burning more than 4 square miles of brush and timber in and near Sequoia National Forest.

Fire activity is described as minimal, and when it does occur it is well within the perimeter.

The fire destroyed three houses and damaged another after breaking out Friday evening. All evacuations were lifted by late Monday.

Lake Isabella is the center of a popular outdoor recreation region about 110 miles north of Los Angeles.
