HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Forecasters say a wintry mix of precipitation could once again make travel treacherous in northern Alabama.

The National Weather Service said the wintry mix is expected Sunday night, transitioning to rain Monday.

Forecasters say they also expect some of the coldest temperatures of the winter season as arctic air moves into the region.

The weather service is calling for low temperatures early Sunday morning of around 20 degrees in Florence and Huntsville; and around 18 in Fort Payne. The low temperature early Sunday in Birmingham is expected to dip to around 23 degrees.
