Upstate New York man accused in triple homicide is indicted by grand jury

ROCHESTER, New York — A 21-year-old gang member charged with killing three people and wounding four others with a stolen assault rifle has been indicted by a grand jury.

Monroe County Assistant District Attorney Michelle Crowley tells the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle ( ) the specifics of the indictment against Johnny Blackshell Jr. won't become public until the grand jury completes its term, and that could be a week or more.

A City Court hearing for Blackshell, of the Rochester suburb of Chili (CHY'-ly), was canceled because of the indictment.

Blackshell is accused of first-degree murder in the drive-by shooting last month outside the Rochester Boys and Girls Club. He was on parole for an attempted burglary at the time and also faces federal charges of robbery and illegal possession of a weapon.
