Rockies select contract of RHP Kensing, option RHP Volstad

DENVER — The Colorado Rockies have selected the contract of right-hander Logan Kensing from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

The Rockies made the move Sunday. Kensing was available against Philadelphia for the finale of the three-game series.

To make room for Volstad, Colorado optioned righty Chris Volstad to Triple-A.

Kensing was 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA and seven saves in 19 appearances with Colorado Springs. In parts of seven major league seasons with Miami and Washington, Kensing is 8-9 with a 5.81 ERA and two saves in 134 games.

Volstad appeared in two games after being recalled on Wednesday, his second stint with the Rockies. He allowed four runs in two innings, and has a 10.80 ERA in six games with Colorado this season.
