CINCINNATI — Federal safety investigators are withdrawing citations and fines for two companies and reducing fines for four others after a floor collapse at a Cincinnati casino construction site.
More than a dozen workers were injured in the Jan. 27 accident at the downtown Horseshoe Casino project. Most injuries were minor.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration initially cited six companies for safety violations and proposed fines totaling $108,000, but says fines against four companies would finally total $36,700. Citations and fines totaling nearly $32,000 against DAG Construction and TriVersity Construction were withdrawn because the individual companies are part of Pendleton Construction Group, a joint venture that was fined $8,600.
Casino construction manager Messer Construction confirmed a settlement but declined further comment. Work resumed on the casino slated to open next spring.
