Sheriff: 2-year-old boy drowns in Garland County pond after crawling through doggy door

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The Garland County Sheriff's Office says a 2-year-old boy has drowned after crawling through a doggy door and into a pond.

Deputies say the toddler knocked down a baby gate on Monday before crawling outside. They say the boy's father found him and alerted authorities.

The child's name hasn't been released.

Deputies say the drowning appears to be accidental and there are no signs of foul play. The investigation in ongoing.
