Ex-Framingham State student to plead guilty to charges connected to fatal crash

WOBURN, Massachusetts — A lawyer for a former Framingham State University student charged with being drunk and causing a crash that killed her friend says his client plans to plead guilty.

An attorney for 23-year-old Brooke Uttley confirmed the plea change Wednesday. A Middlesex Superior Court judge scheduled a change of plea hearing for May 22.

Uttley's lawyer tells The MetroWest Daily News (http://bit.ly/15sisH9 ) that he and the prosecutor will submit independent sentencing recommendations before then. While not revealing what his recommendation will be, he says he expects Uttley to get prison time.

Prosecutors say Uttley was drunk and driving 60 mph in a 25 mph zone when she hit a pole December 2011, killing one of her passengers, Ashley Donahue of Bridgewater. She's charged with vehicular homicide while driving under the influence.
