BINGHAM TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Authorities say officers shot and wounded a person with a knife following a vehicle chase that started with a domestic situation in the Lansing area.

The Clinton County sheriff's department says officers responded late Tuesday in DeWitt Township and chased the suspect, who was leaving the area at the time they arrived.

Officers used stop sticks to puncture the tires of the person's vehicle, which went off the road in Bingham Township and crashed into a fence. The department says that the person had a knife and fled on foot, but was shot by officers during a struggle.

The suspect was listed in stable condition. No officers were injured. The Shiawassee County sheriff's department is investigating.
