Shreveport fire officials: Retired state trooper rescues man from fire that destroyed house


SHREVEPORT, Louisiana — Authorities say a retired state trooper has rescued a Shreveport man who had been injured in a fire that destroyed his house.

Firefighters tell KSLA-TV ( ) the blaze was reported around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday in north Shreveport.

Firefighters arrived to find the home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters did not release the injured man's name but say a retired state trooper pulled him from the burning house.

The man's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Chief Safety Officer Scott Wolverton says the fire appeared to start in the kitchen but its cause remains under investigation.

The house was declared a total loss.
