JUNEAU, Alaska — A parade is planned in Juneau on Friday in honor of Dr. Walter Soboleff Day.

Lawmakers earlier this year passed legislation designating Nov. 14 of each year in honor of Soboleff, a Tlingit elder and spiritual leader who died in 2011 at the age of 102. Nov. 14 was Soboleff's birthday.

The Juneau Empire reports (http://bit.ly/1znmyLt ) the Alaska Native Sisterhood organized the parade, scheduled to begin at a downtown park on Friday morning.
