CORTEZ, Colorado — Thirty-two bidders spent $4,269 to buy items previously owned by a former Montezuma County undersheriff who used taxpayer money to pay for personal items, including firearms.

The Cortez Journal reports ( ) Tuesday's auction, which was called after Robin Cronk pleaded guilty to embezzlement and official misconduct, was over in about 10 minutes. Proceeds from the auction will go toward Cronk's court-ordered restitution of $7,415.
