Authorities: Woman dead, man wounded after shooting at a northeast Phoenix apartment complex

PHOENIX — Authorities say a woman is dead and her boyfriend wounded after a shooting at a northeast Phoenix apartment complex and it appears to be a homicide-attempted suicide.

Phoenix police say shooting occurred about 2 p.m. Friday at the apartment complex near Greenway Road and 25th Street.

The mother of the wounded man called police after finding her son and his girlfriend with gunshot wounds.

Authorities say the woman was declared dead at the scene. The man has been taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the man and woman aren't immediately available, but authorities say they are in their late 30s to early 40s.

Police say the motive for the shooting is unclear at this time.
