Gillis scores 20 points, with 4 3-pointers as Coastal Carolina defeats Liberty 69-54

LYNCHBURG, Virginia — Warren Gillis scored 20 points with four 3-pointers, four rebounds and four assists to lead Coastal Carolina to a 69-54 win over Liberty on Saturday night.

Gillis did it with 7-of-12 shooting from the field overall including four 3-pointers. Josh Cameron added 12 points off the bench for the Chanticleers (13-3, 4-0 Big South). Elijah Wilson scored 11 with three 3-pointers. Coastal Carolina threw up 30 3-pointers, making nine.

Coastal Carolina shattered a 20-20 tie late in the first half on a 15-4 run highlighted by 3-pointers by Gillis and Colton Ray-St Cyr to lead 35-24 at the break.

After halftime, a 3-pointer by Cameron at the midway point stretched the Chanticleers' lead to 52-33 and Liberty remained down by double digits for the duration of the game.

Theo Johnson and Andrew Smith led the Flames (6-11, 0-4) with nine points apiece.
